What is Intervention?
Today you are one step closer to a new, recovered loved one, friend or co-worker and a healthy relationship where you feel empowered and on a positive path to recovery and well-being.
For families, friends or co-workers who are at their wits end with a loved one, friend or co-worker who have lost control of their use of alcohol, drugs or some compulsive behavior (like sex, food, gambling, shopping, etc.) and are experiencing negative consequences impacting relationships, work, health, etc, there is "HOPE."
As a Board Registered Interventionist II, I use a very specific, compassionate, solution-focused technique with the support of loved ones, friends and/or co-workers to motivate the addict/alcoholic and the family to get the treatment and help that they need.
My compassionate, solution-focused technique involves bringing the "gift of treatment" in a way that the addicted person and the family can accept in a positive atmosphere of dignity, love and trust.
Why Seek Intervention and Treatment?
You, who are close to the alcoholic/addict, suffer from the addiction as well.
Your decision to take action is the single most positive action you can take to begin the road to recovery for the alcoholic/addict and those around him or her.
When is Intervention Needed?
Too often, family, friends or co-worlers of the alcoholic/addict simpy wait too long for some event to occur which will force them into treatment--a crisis with the law, self-disgust, sudden awareness of the addiction, or the well-worn "hitting bottom"
syndrome.
Important: Addiction is a disease (a brain disease) and the most effective treatment is immediate treatment.
